Description
Contribution to health
Fatigue, concentration difficulties and susceptibility to infection can all be a sign of iron deficiency. Other typical symptoms of iron deficiency include frequently feeling cold, hair loss, dry corners of the mouth and cracked fingernails. Without the required iron intake, iron deficiency can lead to anaemia.
Iron is needed, among other things, for the transportation of oxygen, breathing, cell division and energy production. Since our body cannot produce the essential trace element itself, we need to obtain it regularly through our food.
The daily iron requirement for men is around 10 mg. The recommended level for women is 15 mg and up to 30 mg during pregnancy. Breastfeeding, heavy periods, regular blood donations, competitive sport and bleeding can also increase the amount or iron required.
It’s not enough to simply rely on the iron content in our food:
Our body can only absorb a fraction of the iron that it consumes (15 % from meat and fish and only 3% from fruit and vegetables!)
It is all the more important then to use high-grade bioavailable iron such as IRON RASAYANA!
Our IRON RASAYANA is very well tolerated and does not cause constipation.
Iron supports
• normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin
• normal energy-yielding metabolism
• the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
• normal oxygen transport in the body
• normal function of the immune system
• normal cognitive function
• the process of cell division
What Ayurveda says
As in our Western medicine, a pale complexion (known as Twak Panduta) is considered a typical sign of anaemia in Ayurveda. According to Ayurveda, this is generally associated with “Rasa-Dhatu”, the quality of which can be recognised by the colour of the skin.
‘Rasa’ is the first body tissue, the ‘juice of life’, extracted from healthy food by a good Agni (digestive fire) – (see note). It nourishes and builds the other tissues. ‘Rasa’ also means ‘colour, taste and passion’.
Consistent with traditional Ayurveda teachings, IRON RASAYANA offered by Maharishi Ayurveda is made from the finest bioavailable Iron Bhasma combined with selected herbs and natural minerals. According to ayurvedic understanding, this unique combination not only provides a valuable source or iron, it also encourages absorption of this vital element. Furthermore, the simultaneous elimination of Ama (a kind of toxin according to ayurvedic teaching, see note) is also believed to support iron metabolism.
Specific features of our raw materials and processing methods
Our experts have worked day in day out with great passion and care to make our IRON RASAYANA what it now is: an unrivalled source of iron which is unique in its form.
The successful recipe for IRON RASAYANA is based on an incredibly elaborate ayurvedic preparation and a combination with synergistically produced herbs and minerals. Iron ore and herbs of impeccable quality are prepared in a year-long (!) production process involving over 100 cycles. Maharishi Ayurveda relies on sophisticated processes described in traditional ayurvedic texts to transform different forms of iron. The result is a fine form of iron that can be easily absorbed by the body without risk.
According to ayurvedic tradition, this unique form of production and the combination with natural calcium, cowrie shells and selected herbs promote the absorption of iron.
