Liquorice root is a favourite ingredient for many Indian and ayurvedic dishes and recipes.

Liquorice root can be used in sweet dishes, as a herbal tea or as described in ayurvedic writings.

Liquorice root -healthy if used in moderation

People suffering from hypertension should avoid excessive consumption of this product.  Liquorice root can contain up to 14% glycyrrhizin.  According to EU-recommendations the daily dose of glycyrrhizin should not exeed more than 100 mg, this equates to a weight of 700 mg of liquorice root (approx. a level teaspoon Liquorice root powder).
